Interests
- An Effective Realistic Cognitive Architecture -As described on the web site for DARPA's BICA Program (http://www.darpa.mil///ipto/solicitations/open/05-18_PIP.htm), and on the website for the European CoSy program, (http://www.cognitivesystems.org/abstract.asp) current cognitive architectures face a trade-off between the accurate representation of biological systems, and the ability to solve interesting problems. Simply put, realistic cognitive models still can't do very much. I spend some of my spare time reading and thinking about how current cognitive architectures might be adapted to incorporate new hypotheses about human cognition, and how those adaptations could aid construction of models that can solve complex tasks.
- Pan Sobao -My wife is from Puerto Rico, so we get to visit the island a lot. We stay with the family, so I get regular work on my Spanish. One of my favorite things to do is walk over to the corner store with my older daughter in the morning and pick up fresh bread. Prefiero el Pan Sobao, es muy suave and tan delicioso, especialamente cuando es caliente.
- Sports -The Orioles, DC United, Redskins and Wizards are all sources of pleasure, and mainly frustration. That sentence also describes my golf game pretty well. I also play basketball and soccer regularly, and I'm looking forward to my daughters being old enough to throw softballs.
