Employment
Prior to joining SunGard Higher Education (Formerly SCT), worked as a programmer at several companies. At SGHE/SCT I have had many diverse opportunities - developer, consultant, development manager, business analyst, services manager/consultant.
- SunGard Higher Education (formerly SCT) - Sr Workflow Consultant - 7/1978 - 7/2006 - IT professional who has come up through the ranks from programmer to manager. Having spent the last twenty-eight years in a software development/services market, I have been instrumental in all aspects of the development lifecycle.
Most of my development career was working on one or more modules of a very large product (Banner product for Higher Education). Each of the 8+ modules had separate teams and each module had to interface with the other. As development manager, I worked with product managers to agree product enhancements setting the expectation for the delivered updates. Also worked with the other development managers in all phases of the development life cycle to insure quality. At the same time, I was responsible for the project management, overseeing the documentation, defects, packaging, delivery and coding (Oracle/sql).
Most recently, I had been involved in a workflow product offering completely written and designed in Java using (OO) technology. My experience with the Workflow product started as a business analyst on the development team assisting with functionality issues, use cases, testing and documentation. On the services side, I trained and consulted with the end users working closely with our Business Process Analysis team and end users to help define, document, automate and implement their processes. Client facing engagements for 5+ years.
Starting as a programmer (Cobol, Oracle, SQL) has given me invaluable knowledge of "how" things work and an understanding of the level of detail needed. Working as a manager and a functional consultant has given me an "end user" view from the business side. Having an opportunity to work at both ends of the spectrum allows me to communicate with multiple types of teams.
