Client facing for over 5 years. Training, consulting and implementation support.
Main duties to work with the client on defining, documenting, improving and automating their business processes using the workflow product. A major portion of my work was business process analysis which is the critical first step of workflow.
- Business Analysis - Analysis is critical when defining a business process. Users and stake holders must agree to ensure that everyone gets what they need to achieve the business goal. This is accomplished via group meetings with the key users as they know the details of the business. During these meetings, it is important define the scope and boundaries of the process as well as the steps. It is key that the right questions be asked in the sessions to filter and capture the necessary details. Although it is important to include everyone involved in the process, too many opinions can make the sessions unproductive. This needs to be managed in a sensitive way to keep the meetings moving in a positive direction.
- Coordinator/Liaison - Have 28+ years in IT. Familiar with Software life cycle from requirements through testing. My technical background and client facing consulting experience gives me the ability to understand and work with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Software Development Life Cycle - Most of my development career was working on one or more modules of a very large product (Banner product for Higher Education). Each of the 8+ modules had separate teams and each module had to interface with the other. This took a huge coordination effort. As development manager, I worked with product managers to agree product enhancements setting the expectation for the delivered updates. I worked with a team of development managers in all phases of the development life cycle to insure quality. Responsible for the project management, overseeing the documentation, defects, testing, packaging, delivery and was coding (Oracle/sql).
- Training/Consulting - Client facing engagements to train users on how to use software product. Provided consulting on product for implementation.
- SunGard Higher Education - Workflow - Trainor and Consultant for SunGard HE Workflow product. Started as BA on Workflow Development team. Managing Consultant delivering on site training and consulting to clients. Was 75%+ billable while managing WF team. Responsible for managing team, materials and services for the product.
