INNOVATIVE CONCEPTS INCORPORATED - Lead Principle Software Engineer - * Ported custom TCP/IP networking stack to vxWorks for the Improved Data Modem (IDM).
IDM software interfaced with digital data radios such as SINCGARS and EPLRS used
by Army Aviation for tactical battlefield communications.
* Incorporated changes to IGMP and ICMP Router Discovery protocols and integrated
customizations of the networking stack into the OS and Ada application glue code.
* Modified on-board i82558 Ethernet device driver.
* Ported IDM networking software from VxWorks to LynxOS.
* Conducted laboratory test and integration of SINCGARS, EPLRS, and HF radio networks.
Performed interoperability tests with Army INC and FBCB2 systems.
* Adapted Blue Force Tracker satellite radio to IDM TCP/IP stack.
* Ported IDM code to the Joint Tactical Radio System software-defined radio (JTRS).
Architecture involved CORBA and XML elements for remote module communication.
* Supported military field exercises involving digital exchange of battlefield
information between helicopters and ground forces in real-world scenarios.
Extensive experience with on-site client integration and system-wide testing.
* Provided employee training and support for system architecture and laboratory
radios and equipment. Served as subject matter expert on Army Tactical Internet.
* Helped Innovative Concepts achieve CMMI/SEI Level 3 and ISO 9001 certification.
RAYTHEON SYSTEMS COMPANY - Contract engineer - * Developed digital radio communication network for small unit SIGINT system.
* Network used a modified Point-to-Point Protocol which linked three data-capture
systems and a user interface device via SINCGARS radios in RS-232 mode.
* Coded in C and C++ under the Tornado development environment.
* Target machines were embedded Pentium PCs running VxWorks and the user interface
station utilized custom Pentium PC hardware running Windows NT.
* Contract was a rapid development cycle DARPA prototype.
SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGY INC. (now Harris Corporation) - Staff software engineer - * Produced C and Perl code to analyze test data for ATM study which compared
suitability of various networking protocols for NRO satellite telemetry dissemination.
* Developed command and signaling code for ATM-based ground station equipment using
VxWorks and Heurikon Malibu single board computers in a VME backplane.
* Conducted customer demonstrations at the Naval Research Lab and assisted with
integration and test of subsystems at remote downlink facility at Blossom Point, MD.
* Developed device driver and API for PCI reflective memory adapter for DEC Alpha.
* Integrated software and hardware components for mobile ground station system based
on Alpha, Sun SPARCs, and VME SBCs.
ALLIED SIGNAL AEROSPACE (now Honeywell) - Computer engineering intern - * Assisted in development of the RDR-4B Weather Radar for commercial aviation.
The RDR-4B system was the first onboard predictive windshear radar in operation.
* Developed and tested C and i80186 and DSP assembly code. Wrote and integrated
routines which display cockpit warning icons in the event of a windshear detection.
* Performed system analysis, testing, and hardware debugging in laboratory.
* Prepared project documentation for FAA, ISO 9000, and CMMI/SEI Level 3 audits.
* Participated in system flight tests in company's test aircraft.
