I am a program and project management consultant with degrees in electrical and software engineering. Several years ago, I was considering becoming an independent consultant and a neighbor highly recommended MBO, saying, “If you go out on your own, go through MBO.”  When the right opportunity arose for me to become an independent consultant, I made the connection with MBO, and all the pieces were in place for me to step out on my own.

During the negotiation phase of the contract, it was comforting to know that MBO was looking out for my best interests. The processes that needed to be in place to do business were taken care of. All I needed to think about was making sure I was ready to work. My Business Manager helped me determine a fair bill rate, and within a few weeks, I was on board and working.

MBO is a huge relief. I do not have to worry about legal infrastructure, insurance, contracts, or taxes. It is handled. Allowing MBO to handle most of the administrative work means I have more time with my family. I don’t have to worry about collections, expense processing, and contracts.  MBO makes independent consulting manageable for me.

My Business Manager is a wonderful resource; she watches my time and expenses, answers benefit questions, and more. If I have a question, I can call or email and get the right answer.

I have associates and co-workers that have LLC’s and I have referred several to MBO Partners. I recommend MBO to everyone who is on their own or thinking about being on their own.  MBO helps to relieve the concerns of stepping into the world of independent consulting. I did not have to be an expert in business administration.  All I had to do was perform in my business field . . . and that I know how to do.

Someday I might start a company, collaborating with others to form a team. Starting off under the MBO brand would be an easy and low risk way to grow a business until the company has the momentum to branch out on its own.

I am happiest when I am doing what I do best. Everyone has their skill set and I am most effective when I am ingrained with the client and giving all my attention to the project. I am at this point in my career for a reason, and it feels great. I am more productive, more relaxed, and more focused as an independent consultant.
