Unilever and MBO Partners: Engaging independent workers safely and efficiently
01 Engagement instructions
When you identify a new independent professional for a project, contact your HR Business Partner. Once HR determines that your request is in scope, refer the worker to MBO by completing this referral form. Either include a Statement of Work (SOW) with the referral form or draft your own SOW within the referral form.
MBO will manage the remainder of the onboarding process and contact you when the worker is ready to begin the project.
02 Ongoing administration
You'll receive an email notification from MBO each time a worker engaged on your projects submits time, milestones, deliverables, and/or expenses. Follow the instructions in the email to execute the approval.
Please be sure to approve all submissions by close of business each Monday for the previous week's submissions. Failure to meet this deadline may delay payments.
03 Talent sourcing support
Unilever's dedicated Independent Talent Network (ITN) Team Manager will work with you to attract and hire from the pool of 130,000 Talent inside of MBO's marketplace. This Fortune 500-proven Talent exists across 18 skill domains and over 112 specialties, including cyber security, network engineering, finance/accounting, software programming, and business transformation. Note that a small sourcing fee applies for successful placements (15%), which is in addition to MBO's standard engagement service fees. This combined fee is still a fraction of the cost of working with traditional staffing suppliers.
Sourcing process: When you need MBO's help finding a contractor for a role, email Mike Cavaluzzi mcavaluzzi@mbopartners.com
We can begin the process of recruiting, screening, and submitting vetted Talent for your review afterward. For most roles, MBO's ITN team can deliver high-quality talent in 72 hours or less. You simply select the candidate which best matches your needs and we will then initiate our standard onboarding process.
04 About MBO Partners
MBO Partners, the independent workforce leader, helps Unilever offer the most efficient and appealing engagement environment possible for its valued independent talent. MBO's flexible engagement services ensure that Unilever can manage contractor relationships efficiently while staying compliant with contractor-related regulations. MBO also provides independents the highest level of advocacy and support throughout their Unilever assignments. (Learn about MBO's engagement services below.)
05 MBO's engagement services
MBO directs Unilever-referred contractors into one of three engagement services depending on their characteristics, expectations, and business qualifications:
- Vendor Services, a business-to-business engagement service for independent professionals who meet Unilever's criteria to engage as qualified vendors. Independent professionals interested in engaging through Vendor Services must pass a qualification evaluation during the onboarding process. MBO invoices Unilever for approved time/expense submissions and pays vendors upon receipt of Unilever's payment.
- Business Services, a unique engagement alternative for independent professionals who wish to work as compliant independent business owners (LLCs or corporations) but need assistance meeting and maintaining the appropriate credentials to do so. Independents engaged through Business Services enjoy the freedom and flexibility of operating an independent business at less cost and with less administration than doing it alone.
- Payroll Services, a conventional W-2 payrolling solution for hourly workers who do not consider themselves true independent business practitioners.
