A major global consulting firm was looking for a fast solution to handle the ideation component of its client engagements. In the past, the consulting firm used a variety of survey tools for its phase one ideation and research. While these surveys provided a lot of information, the ideas that came through lacked depth and creativity. This meant that the consulting firm had to frequently engage an expensive panel of experts to supplement initial survey information. They needed ideas that came directly from consumers.

The consulting firm used the MindSumo platform to crowdsource new solutions for a large beverage maker that wanted ideas for how to improve the beverage consumption experience through technology-driven solutions. By targeting tech-savvy users, the consulting firm gathered more than 140 unique solutions. Rather than using a standard survey template, they were able to gather more in-depth and creative responses using a more open-ended brief. The consulting firm also worked with the MindSumo team to frame, launch, and manage the project.

After a series of MindSumo challenges, the consulting firm gained more than 20 new solution ideas that are being explored for development and implementation over the next 12 months. Crowdsourcing ideas gave the consulting firm a faster way to source the detailed, innovative ideas they were looking for.
