Proactive Adaptation To The Next Way Of Working
In 2015, a Big 4 consulting firm declared that the world of work was changing. Together with executive leadership, the firm articulated a goal of shifting their workforce to an optimized model which strategically mixed a percentage of full-time employees with defined populations of offshore and independent contract labor. Numerous factors came into play: by shifting to a model that included both offshore and independent labor, they could significantly improve utilization. Leveraging independent professional talent also allowed the firm to access a population with key skills and knowledge, as well as more heterogeneous thinking, to better serve their clients. Further, the firm looked to reduce the costs and better mitigate the risk associated with managing their existing contingent worker population while attracting and maintaining strong relationships with high-value independent professionals.
Their independent contractors had historically worked through an outdated technology platform and a third-party service provider. The consulting firm knew there was a better way-they needed a partner to create a streamlined, end-to end operating model that could handle engagement, onboarding, payment, and management of their contingent workforce, as well as complex worker classification issues. And while they were happy to build the solution and own the technical infrastructure, they needed a partner who truly understood the needs of the independent worker as well as the unique challenges of engaging in an enterprise grade model to help and manage the platform engagement. Enter, MBO Partners.
