For more than 25 years, MBO has led the charge to keep the independent economy moving forward. And now we are thrilled to give you an exclusive look at the individuals who have made our company what it is today. We are happy to launch new series which highlights the team that power our platform, many of whom you’ve met, and others that we hope you’ll enjoy getting to know! Please enjoy our featured series: the Staff Spotlight.

This month we spoke to Kelly Scogna, a Financial Integration Analyst who helps MBO continue allowing our clients to do the work they love, the way they want, each and every day. And if there’s anyone in our company who can bring a beam of sunshine to any conference room, it’s Kelly! Read our exclusive interview with Kelly to learn more about Kelly’s tenacity for taking on new, challenging opportunities and her innate desire to treat every day like a new opportunity to achieve your dreams.

In our exclusive interview, Kelly shares all her advice, personal stories, and passion on how to treat each day as a gift and why it’s important to always give your full effort to every opportunity you get!

When I first sat down with Kelly I wanted to know the basics but quickly learned her outlook on how to approach work. This is why when I asked her what prepared her most for her current role it was no surprise when she responded:

A mindset of welcoming challenges as opportunities for growth and innovation.

When she gave this answer, I had to ask how she deals with challenges that do present themselves and how to move forward from hard times. She responded that:

I never let myself dwell on the past. I like to forecast in my mind problems that might arrive tomorrow and solution them proactively.

She added to this advice by sharing her favorite quote:

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.”

– Albert Einstein

She added to this by giving some personal advice for all the young adults entering the workforce to keep moving but also:

Don’t shy away from responsibilities!

Kelly is a strong proponent of being passionate and working hard each and every day. She believed the best piece of advice she was given was:

My former controller once told me that it’s very crucial to have a mentor or someone who inspires you at work and I couldn’t agree more.

And she clearly follows this advice because Kelly has been a part of some crucial developments at MBO. The one she is most passionate about however she told was:

I helped design a method that transformed a cumbersome daily procedure into a highly productive and enjoyable experience for the team. This has driven me to always embrace challenges and look for ways to improve productivity.

Two traits any mother knows can come in handy. Aren’t her two kids adorable?

What prepared her to take on this challenge she said were her two greatest strengths:

Resilience and creativity!

Kelly continued on saying that coming to work at MBO allows her to live out her worldview to always accept challenges and to do all your work with passion because:

Every day presents its own challenges and opportunities, which makes each work day a unique adventure.

When asked what company values she admires the most about MBO she said:

Our emphasis on candor and empathy from the leadership team and across the organization.

After seeing how Kelly always seems to accept a challenge, but to never let her smile fade we wanted to know if she lived the same worldview in her personal life.

When interviewing Kelly about her personal life it was obvious to us that she lived each day trying to be the best version of herself. And whether it was through her hobbies, which she told us were:

Reading, yoga, and working on puzzles with my family.

Or her main inspirations for living each day like it’s your last, which she said are:

God and my children, who push me to be the best version of myself.

Kelly always reverted back to her main life motto: to always accept a challenge, and always give whatever you decide to do your best shot. She is an inspiration to all of us at MBO and reminds anyone who works with her that yes times might get tough, but as long as you give it your all you’ll always be tougher and can get through anything you set your mind to!
